CaringKind is the trusted leader in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. For nearly 50 years, we have provided compassionate, expert guidance and a comprehensive system of support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, their care partners, families, professionals, and communities. Our work is rooted in the belief that no one should navigate dementia alone.
We are seeking an eager, mission-driven Walk Manager who is ready to make a meaningful difference. This role will lead fundraising and engagement efforts for CaringKind’s signature Alzheimer’s Walk and Brain Health Day and the Alzheimer’s 5K Walk & Brain Health Festival on Long Island with expanded responsibility across Manhattan and Long Island. The Manager will be responsible for a $730,000 fundraising goal for the Alzheimer’s Walk and Brain Health Day and a $150,000 fundraising goal for the Alzheimer’s 5k Walk and Brain Health Festival.
This position reports to the Development Department and works closely with cross-functional teams to drive strategy, execution, and community impact.
Position Overview
The Walk Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and growth of CaringKind’s Alzheimer’s Walk program. This individual will manage all aspects of the Walk within their assigned territory, including New York City and Long Island, to increase revenue, strengthen partnerships, and expand awareness of CaringKind’s mission. Additional logistic management and support of key portfolio events will be required.
This role requires a highly organized, solutions-oriented professional who is communicative, collaborative, and comfortable wearing many hats in a fast-paced and fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Event Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Walk Team Captains, beginning with outreach to past participants and driving re-engagement
- Recruit, train, and steward Walk Teams, Team Captains, sponsors, and volunteer committees
- Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of Walk events to meet or exceed fundraising goals
- Attend and support all CaringKind Walk events, as well as select third-party events
- Coordinate inventory and all day-of-event logistics to ensure seamless execution
- Track performance metrics and provide consistent progress updates to leadership
Strategy and Relationship Management
- Develop and implement year-round strategies to grow corporate sponsorships, donor relationships, and community partnerships
- Collaborate with Marketing to support promotional materials, social campaigns, and outreach efforts
- Build and maintain strong relationships across corporate, community, and volunteer stakeholders
Operations and Collaboration
- Participate in all Walk-related meetings, trainings, and planning sessions
- Provide technical support to participants using fundraising platforms
- Manage multiple timelines, priorities, and communications with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Serve as a collaborative partner across internal teams to ensure alignment and success
- Support additional CaringKind core events through logistical and operational support
Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to manage logistics with precision and strong organizational systems
- Proven experience as a detail-oriented project manager with the ability to oversee multiple moving parts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a quick and thoughtful response time
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset when working with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in CRM or donor management systems, including Salesforce and Classy and GoFundMePro
- Strong computer literacy and ability to support participants with varying levels of technical comfort
- Comfortability to travel regularly throughout New York City and Long Island; valid driver’s license and access to a car a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required
