The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity, respect, and recognition for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007, NDWA represents an alliance of over 76 organizations across 22 states, advocating for the rights of domestic workers in the U.S. With more than 395,000 workers nationwide, we envision a society where domestic work is recognized as essential, valued, and supported with fair labor protections. Our goal is to elevate care workers to the essential workers of the 21st-century economy and ensure domestic work is a pathway to economic security and dignity.
In the South Bay, we are committed to organizing and advocating for domestic workers to ensure their rights are upheld through enforcement, outreach, and education. This role will focus on building relationships, providing educational resources, and ensuring compliance with labor laws to ensure domestic workers can exercise their rights effectively. Made possible by a time-limited grant from the California Domestic Workers Coalition (CDWC), NDWA is dedicating one full time staff person to act as the anchor for the participation of NDWA in the Domestic Worker Employer and Education Program. The Domestic Worker Employer and Education Program (DWEOP) was established to empower workers by educating them about their rights,how to stand up for their rights on the job and how to support other workers to do the same. Through DWEOP, we also build the leadership skills of workers leaders and provide employers with education and tools to ensure compliance with labor laws.
