    Location: New Orleans, LA (with programming in Baton Rouge)

    Status: Full-time, Exempt

    Position Overview

    DBI seeks an experienced Director of Programming to lead, build, and independently operate the organization’s programming function. This senior leadership role is responsible for translating DBI’s mission into high-quality, youth-centered programs supported by strong systems, trained staff, and clear accountability.

    The Director of Programming will design and document operational systems, oversee multi-site programs, and ensure that all programs run with consistency, integrity, and minimal day-to-day Executive Team involvement.

    Core Responsibilities

    Program Leadership & Strategy

    • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all DBI programs, including Legacy Leaders and Policy Fellows.
    • Establish a yearly programming calendar aligned with youth interests, organizational goals, and funding requirements.

    Staff Leadership & Oversight

    • Supervise program managers, coordinators, youth coordinators, and case managers.
    • Ensure all staff are trained in serving girls with exceptionalities.

    Systems, SOPs & Operations

    • Create, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all programming functions.
    • Develop a daily programming checklist to ensure quality and consistency.
    • Ensure programs operate independently without daily Executive Team involvement.

    Data, Evaluation & Outcomes

    • Define and implement data collection and evaluation processes.
    • Maintain at least 80% attendance across afterschool programming.
    • Use data to inform program decisions, staffing, and improvements.

    Curriculum, Case Management & Youth Experience

    • Oversee curriculum development and case management integration.
    • Ensure programming reflects sensitivity to trauma, identity, and lived experience.
    • Equip girls with public speaking and storytelling skills.

    Partnerships, Growth & Sustainability

    • Establish and manage at least five formal MOUs with strategic partners.
    • Develop a replicable, revenue-generating programming toolkit.
    • Build a functioning coalition and comprehensive intake toolkit.

    Resource & Budget Management

    • Lead the launch and oversight of DBI’s food pantry and kitchen.
    • Manage program-related budgets, supplies, safety, and liability considerations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, public policy, nonprofit management, or a related field
    • Masters degreee preferred
    • 7–10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit, youth programming, or community-based program leadership
    • Demonstrated experience building programs, systems, and SOPs from the ground up
    • Proven experience with data management, program evaluation, and reporting
    • Strong budget management experience, including oversight of program budgets and resource allocation
    • Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and managing multi-site programs
    • Strong operational, organizational, and decision-making skills

    Compensation

    Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
