Work to Protect Wildlife and Save Lives in Our Canvassing and Field Manager Positions
North Carolina is home to incredible wildlife, like elk, bobcats, bears and the endangered red wolf. Too many are injured or killed trying to cross our highways, and North Carolina is considered a high risk state for vehicle-animal collisions. We need to do more to prevent injuries and death caused by animal vehicle collisions.
Environment North Carolina is calling on our state to fund wildlife crossings like bridges, tunnels and fences to give wildlife a safe place to cross our highways. We’re hiring canvassers and field managers in our Chapel Hill office to educate the public about this issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence local decision-makers.

Canvassing staff earn a base pay of $15.00 per hour, plus can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum fundraising standard, giving staff the opportunity to earn more than $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. Depending on performance and location, canvassers earn an average of between $15 to $20 per hour.
