As the organization advances its impact and growth, we are seeking a senior fundraising leader who is energized by building relationships, securing philanthropic investment, and partnering closely with executive leadership to advance our mission.

MMP is a dynamic statewide nonprofit organization and as an affiliate of The National Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR), MMP is part of a national effort that helps grassroots organizations foster quality mentoring relationships by producing research for the field, shaping policy change through advocacy, and driving public awareness on the impact of mentoring for young people.

For more than 30 years MMP has served as an intermediary organization, providing the critical link between national evidence-based research and programs across the State. MMP provides the tools, research, training and best practices adults require to truly show up for youth in a caring and consistent way in schools, community, and workplaces.

    Position Summary:

The Director of Development serves as MMP’s chief fundraising and revenue growth leader, responsible for achieving an annual revenue goal of $2.5 million through major gifts, foundations, corporate partnerships, individual giving, and events.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role owns the organization’s fundraising strategy and results, while also overseeing advancement operations, marketing, and brand visibility.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives in a growth-oriented environment, is comfortable serving as a lead solicitor, and brings the resilience and creativity required to succeed in a competitive philanthropic landscape. This role supervises a 2.5-person Advancement team and is expected to function as a player–coach, balancing active fundraising with team leadership and cross-organizational collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Revenue Generation (Primary Responsibility)

    • Lead and drive a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve and exceed the $2.5M annual revenue goal.
    • Serve as a lead fundraiser, managing a personal portfolio of major donors, foundations, and strategic partners, with an emphasis on multi-year gifts and long-term funding relationships.
    • Lead all fundraising activities with a primary focus on major gifts and institutional philanthropy, including individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
    • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, leveraging market trends, donor interests, and organizational strengths.
    • Partner closely with the President & CEO to strategize, cultivate, and solicit top prospects, including joint donor meetings.

    Executive Partnership & Leadership

    • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the President & CEO on fundraising priorities, donor strategy, and revenue forecasting.
    • Provide data-informed fundraising insights and projections to support executive and board decision-making.
    • Represent MMP alongside—or on behalf of—the President & CEO in high-level donor, funder, and community engagements.

    Brand Building & Advancement Marketing

    • Oversee the organization’s brand and storytelling to support fundraising outcomes and donor engagement.
    • Lead and guide the Marketing Manager to ensure consistent, mission-centered messaging that advances philanthropic goals.
    • Strengthen MMP’s visibility through events, campaigns, partnerships, and public engagement.

    Team Leadership & Management

    • Supervise and develop a team of 2.5 staff: Marketing Manager, Advancement Operations Manager, and Part-Time Foundations Manager.
    • Operate as a player–coach, providing direct fundraising leadership while coaching team members toward performance goals.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results within the Advancement team.

    Data, Reporting, & Fundraising Infrastructure

    • Maintain a data-driven fundraising operation, including donor pipeline management, forecasting, and performance tracking.
    • Oversee CRM usage and ensure accurate reporting, dashboards, and fundraising analytics for leadership and the board.
    • Use data to continuously refine fundraising strategies and improve results.

    Organizational Collaboration

    • Champion a culture of philanthropy across the organization, engaging staff in donor stewardship and mission storytelling.
    • Collaborate with program and operations teams to ensure strong alignment between impact, messaging, and fundraising.
    • Participate in organization-wide leadership, planning, and strategy initiatives.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 7–10+ years of progressive fundraising or advancement experience with demonstrated success meeting revenue goals.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Proven track record securing major gifts, from individuals, foundations, or corporations.
    • Experience managing a personal donor portfolio and serving as a lead solicitor.
