Position Summary
The Finance Director provides leadership and oversees all day-to-day operations of the finance department. This role interacts with the Chief Financial Officer and other senior leadership to help support the strategic direction of both the Finance Department and the organization.
Principal Relationships
External: Banks, Foreign currency firms, Audit firm, Governmental agencies, Vendors, Consultants, ISEP Member organizations, Students
Internal: Chief Financial Officer, Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant and ISEP Team Members
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supports engagement & execution on all strategic activities related to the Finance area.
- Supports the Chief Financial Officer in the overall balance sheet management through pricing of services, evaluating investments, maximizing use of cash, streamlining balance sheet mix and other ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation and review of the annual operating and capital budgets. This includes reviewing all budget assumptions, ensuring timely information from the various department leads, incorporating loan/deposit growth projections through new volume and pay-down analysis, evaluating trends on non-interest income/expense items and executive presentations.
- Leads the enhancement and streamlining of fiscal management reporting efforts.
- Assists the Chief Financial Officer in annual audit and tax compliance and filings.
- Provides financial performance information to management and/or other departments, as needed.
- Provide financial reports and interpret financial information for managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
- Analyze costs, pricing, contributions, financial results, and the company’s actual performance compared to plan(s).
- Develop trends and projections for the ISEP finances.
- Oversees the finance department staff and the operations of the finance department, including the month and year end close, setting goals and objectives, and assisting in designing a framework for these to be met.
- Develop and document processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as a Financial Manager and experience in understanding financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.
- Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Firsthand experience with accounting software packages, Sage Intacct experience highly desirable
- BA, Accounting, Business or Finance, preferred
- Master’s Degree or professional certification such as CMA/CPA a plus
- 8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, balance sheet management, treasury management functions within a financial institution.
- Experience interfacing with the Chief Financial Officer, CEO, and other senior leaders to provide regular insights and financial updates.
- Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, teamwork, and management skills. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels in the organization is necessary.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor and deliver messages at various levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and self-motivated; strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound decisions.
- Advanced computer skills required: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
