    About LEEP

LEEP is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit that aims to eliminate childhood lead poisoning, which affects an estimated one in three children worldwide. We primarily focus on one important source of exposure: lead paint. Our paint programs involve generating data, supporting governments with the introduction and enforcement of regulation, and assisting manufacturers in switching to lead-free paints. Beyond our paint programs, we are piloting interventions to address other sources of lead exposure, such as spices and cosmetics.

Since our founding in September 2020:

    • We have initiated lead paint elimination programs in 31 countries; completed paint studies in 18; and agreed on goals to establish lead paint regulation with government agencies in 16 (e.g., Angola).
    • We’ve made crucial progress in engaging with manufacturers in 10 countries (e.g., Pakistan), and in reducing the lead paint market share in Malawi.
    • Founders Pledge estimates that it costs $1.66 to prevent one child’s lead exposure (in expectation) through our work, making LEEP one of its most cost-effective nonprofit recommendations. Our own analysis estimates that it costs under $5 to avert one DALY equivalent through LEEP’s first 13 established programs.
    • We are a partner of the WHO and UN Environment Programme's Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint and a member of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future.
    • We have received grants from major grantmaking organisations, including Founders Pledge, Open Philanthropy, and Schmidt Futures.
    • We have appeared in Nature, Vox, Time Magazine, The New Yorker, Prospect, on the 80,000 Hours Podcast, and our co-founders were named in Vox’s Future Perfect 50.

    About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen the global movement to eliminate lead in paint. As Impact Evaluation Manager, you will play a critical role in assessing the performance and impact of LEEP’s core program and informing strategic decisions about how we scale.

You’ll be responsible for monitoring and evaluating our programs across multiple countries, estimating cost-effectiveness, and ensuring we have robust and up-to-date data systems—especially on national paint markets and manufacturers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both digging into the evidence base and managing practical, operational research systems. Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment are important, as the role involves coordinating across teams to gather information and building systems that integrate smoothly with program workflows.

You’ll work closely with LEEP’s Director of Research and Strategy, as well as our program teams, to ensure our work remains evidence-informed, adaptive, and high-impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (50%)

    • Lead development and implementation of M&E frameworks to track progress and outcomes across LEEP’s lead in paint programs.
    • Design and maintain systems to regularly monitor country-level metrics (e.g., regulatory progress, paint manufacturer compliance, prevalence of lead paint).
    • Manage and update internal datasets, especially on paint manufacturers and markets.
    • Synthesize monitoring data to generate insights and support adaptive program management.
    • Build tools and dashboards that help internal teams and external stakeholders understand progress.

    Cost-Effectiveness and Research Translation (30%)

    • Review academic literature and public health research to estimate intervention effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with LEEP leadership to model cost-effectiveness and inform prioritization across geographies.
    • Translate technical evidence into clear recommendations for program design and decision-making.
    • Support analysis of compliance testing data and impact measurement studies.

    Collaboration and Cross-Functional Work (20%)

    • Work closely with program teams to align M&E efforts with implementation realities and needs.
    • Support grant reporting and donor engagement by producing compelling, data-driven narratives of impact.
    • Contribute to internal learning and improvement by sharing findings and strengthening data practices across teams.

    Who We’re Looking For

A successful applicant will possess the following:

    • Strong analytical and research skills, with experience reviewing academic evidence and estimating intervention impact.
    • Experience designing and managing M&E frameworks or performance tracking systems.
    • Ability to manage datasets, clean and structure messy data, and derive actionable insights.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to collaborate across teams and develop systems that align with program workflows.
    • Familiarity with cost-effectiveness analysis and/or public health impact modeling.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a practical mindset—comfort with getting into operational details.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in explaining technical concepts clearly.
    • Comfort working in dynamic, unstructured environments with multiple priorities.
    • Experience working in low- and middle-income countries.
    • Willingness to travel 4 to 8 weeks a year.

A successful applicant may also possess:

    • Familiarity with public or environmental health, regulatory reform, or international development.
    • Experience working with government data or in policy evaluation.
    • Knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Hindi, French, Spanish, Arabic).
    • Experience with data visualization, dashboards, or tools like R, Stata, or Python.
