At Illinois People’s Action (IPA), we know real change happens when everyday people join forces. We’re here to make sure downstate Illinois has a say in what matters—whether it’s social, racial, economic, or environmental justice. We believe regular folks, working together, can stand up to big corporations and special interests so our communities get a fair shake.
We want where we live to be more just, more humane, and truly democratic. That’s why we organize—because when people connect and take action, we win real results. As a Community Organizer, you’ll talk one-on-one with everyday people, listen to what matters to them, and help train grassroots and faith leaders to step up and lead the fight for change, with a focus on climate and environmental justice. You’ll help bring people into the organization, build power together, and turn that energy into action.
What you’ll do:
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in. You’ll work with your supervisor and team to come up with smart strategies and tactics to make change happen. You’ll need to live in central or downstate Illinois (we’re based in Bloomington and organize across the region) and work from home when you’re not out in the field. Some travel around central Illinois and sometimes to Chicago or the Capitol in Springfield. Ready to help make a difference? Join us!
