About the Associate Director, Marketing & Communications Role:
BRIC seeks an Associate Director, Marketing & Communications to support the development and execution of marketing plans across programming, oversee social media strategy, and ensure brand consistency. This role manages day-to-day marketing operations and partners with the Director on long-term strategy.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
The Associate Director, Marketing & Communications will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Director of Marketing & Communications:
Strategy & Campaign Leadership
- Oversee and implement data-driven marketing campaigns for BRIC’s event-based and institutional programming.
- Support the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications in shaping the public-facing voice, messaging, and positioning across all program areas.
- Develop and manage advertising strategies (paid and organic) across platforms, including Google, Meta, and emerging channels, within established budgets.
Team Leadership & Workflow Management
- Direct and manage two Marketing & Communications Managers in guiding strategy, execution, and professional development.
- Oversee the Social Media Manager in content strategy, campaign execution, and archival amplification.
- Support cross-departmental marketing efforts across teams—Education, Performing Arts, Contemporary Arts, BRIC TV, Community Media, Partnerships, Government Affairs, Rentals—to ensure alignment and balance workloads.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director to manage workflow across design and web teams, ensuring timely and cohesive output.
Operations & Cross-Department Coordination
- Create and manage comprehensive marketing calendars and systems that reflect institutional priorities.
- Prioritize competing departmental needs and ensure strong stakeholder communication and support.
- Oversee website updates and ensure brand consistency across all digital platforms.
- Manage production of signage, collateral, and institutional materials.
Data, Insights & Reporting
- Lead tracking, analysis, and reporting of marketing performance, using insights to guide strategy and resource allocation.
- Oversee audience surveys and campaign summaries for key events.
Partnerships & External Relations
- Support the Senior Director in shaping PR strategy and managing external agency relationships.
- Build and maintain partnerships with peer arts, cultural, and social justice organizations across New York City, identifying opportunities for cross-promotion and audience growth.
- Represent BRIC as an ambassador at events and public programs.
Additional Support
- Partner with the Senior Director on institutional messaging and non-event programming.
- Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
You’ll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:
- Experience & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, arts, and media, or a related field, or equivalent progressive experience; 4+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role that involved overseeing and managing staff.

- Detail-Oriented: Demonstrates love for writing, and possesses a strong passion for the power of words. Exhibits exemplary grammar, proofreading, editing, and communication skills while being attentive to accuracy.
- Excellent Time Management: Organized, deadline-driven, and adept at managing multiple competing priorities.
- Deep Knowledge of the Arts: Can speak about the Arts and communicate effectively with artists, curators, and audiences in a language and framework that they understand.
- Experience with Data Analytics: Utilizes data and metrics to inform strategic decision-making and both long-term and short-term planning.
- Collaborative: Ability to work across departments and teams, synthesizing information and workstreams.
Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $65K - $80K.
- Status and Location: This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid role based in our Brooklyn office.
