    Descripción

ParentsTogether is a cutting-edge nonprofit impact media organization that reaches 1 in 3 parents in the US with useful, relatable content that families love. We meet overwhelmed parents where they are with news, resources, and entertainment that help them navigate the highs and lows of raising kids today, while at the same time building a community united around a core idea: Parents are powerful and together we can help all families thrive.

Founded in 2012, today ParentsTogether has over 3 million members and reaches tens of millions more parents through social media, online issue organizing, and civic engagement.

    Opportunity Overview:

We’re hiring Social Content Creators to join our content team as contract collaborators. This is a hands-on creator role: you’ll write, film, and appear on camera across ParentsTogether’s social channels, franchise/show accounts, and other distribution platforms. You’ll bring strong instincts for what performs on social video, a natural and engaging on-camera presence, and the ability to deliver on directed assignments and generate compelling ideas of your own.

Most of your time will be spent producing content for PT’s core channels - writing scripts, filming and editing social videos, building Instagram carousels, drafting copy, and creating news-driven social content. In addition to assigned pieces, you’ll also be expected to pitch and develop original content ideas grounded in what’s resonating with audiences, and to move quickly when the moment calls for it.

As part of this role, you’ll also help stand up, operate, and engage on new PT-owned amplifier accounts across on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms. These accounts blend interest-based content (cooking, kids’ sports, humor, gardening, and other topics that intersect with parenting) with issue-based, impact content - reaching audiences who might not seek out advocacy content on their own. We’re looking for creators who have a point of view on what these accounts should look and feel like.

ParentsTogether engages in deep listening with our audience in order to provide timely content that is directly responding to the needs of our followers. In addition to amplifier account(s), Social Content Creators may also be responsible for monitoring social channels including comments and DMs, removing any harmful comments that violate our community policies, and reporting any questions, concerns, and content requests from our audience.

    Scope of Work:

    The contractor will:

    Core Content Creation (Primary Focus)

    • Write social video scripts, Instagram carousels, short news pieces for social, articles, and email newsletter content as directed by the content team and editorial calendar
    • Serve as on-air talent — filming yourself in social videos across PT’s main channels and franchise/show accounts
    • Handle your own filming setup, including set, lighting, and basic editing, with style direction and editing support from our in-house editor
    • Propose original content ideas based on trending topics, audience insights, and your creative instincts

    Amplifier Account Development

    • Help build and operate 1-3 PT-owned amplifier accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms as needed
    • Support the development of a content strategy that blends interest-based content with issue and impact content in a way that feels organic and reaches disengaged or politically ambiguous audiences
    • Contribute to growth and engagement on amplifier accounts (specific benchmarks to be mutually agreed upon)

    Community Listening & Engagement

    • Moderate and engage with audiences across social platforms, deeply listening to what parents are saying, asking, and feeling and building engagement with PT-owned properties
    • Surface audience insights that can inform content strategy and organizational priorities

    Required Qualifications:

    • At least 4-5 years of experience in social content creation, digital media, journalism, or a related field
    • Strong, natural on-camera presence — you come across as warm, engaging, and authentic on video
    • Platform fluency — deep working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, and social video best practices including cuts, pacing, timing, hooks, and current style trends
    • Basic editing skills on your platform of choice (CapCut, Premiere, or similar)
    • Self-sufficient filming setup — you can manage your own set, lighting, and recording environment
    • Strong writing skills across formats — scripts, captions, carousels, newsletters, articles
    • Alignment with ParentsTogether’s mission — you care about families, and it shows in your work
    • Knowledge of AI tools and shortcuts for content creation and workflow optimization
    • Comfort with both directed and self-driven work — you can execute on a content calendar and bring your own ideas to the table
    • Proficiency with Slack, Google Suite, and Airtable (or similar project management tools)
    • A rapid-response mindset — you can move fast and create timely content when the moment calls for it

    Strong Plus

    • Training or experience in one of our core issue areas: affordability/economic security, online child safety, child health/wellness, or education
    • Spanish language fluency
    • Experience growing accounts from zero or building audience in a specific content niche

    Structure, Compensation, and Collaboration:

This is an independent contractor role with performance-based compensation, combining a tiered per-piece base rate (varying by content complexity) with bonuses for viral content (500K+ views), rapid-response assignments, and volume output. Strong performers who produce high-quality content at a high clip can expect to earn $6,000–$8,000+ per month. Initial contract length is 6 months, with an anticipated scope of approximately 25-30 hours per week and an anticipated start date of June 2026.

The contractor will maintain autonomy over their work schedule and workflow, with most assignments having an expected turnaround time of 1-4 business days. To support effective collaboration, we generally operate in Eastern Time and prefer to schedule meetings and real time coordination between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM ET when feasible. Specific collaboration windows will be mutually agreed upon while preserving contractor discretion over how and when project work is completed.

Final rate and contract terms will be determined based on qualifications, demonstrated technical capability, and mutual agreement.

    Evaluation Process:

Applications will be reviewed based on relevant experience, and alignment with the needs of the role.

The evaluation process is designed to assess both strategic fit and practical execution capability.

    1. Round 1 will include a 45 to 60 minute interview focused on experience, content sensibility, platform instincts, and approach to content creation.
    2. Round 2 will include a paid work sample to evaluate your approach to content development and execution. Candidates will complete a short, time-bound exercise designed to reflect real work, with clear expectations on scope and timing.
    3. Round 3 will include a 45 minute final interview to review the work sample, discuss content approach and platform instincts, and align on scope, working style, and expectations for the contract engagement, including how we would collaborate day to day.
