Through program development, capacity-building, research and advocacy, we work toward our vision of a vibrant and stable publicly-funded system of school-community partnership so that all New York City children thrive.

    Established in 1998, the organization today reaches more than 119,000 children and 900 programs throughout New York City to ensure that students in under-served communities have access to innovative, engaging ways of learning to enable them to reach their full potential. Over the last two decades, ExpandED Schools’ program, research and policy efforts have led to increased recognition of the academic, social, and emotional benefits of afterschool, tutoring and career-connected learning; increased funding; and new models for school-community partnership.

    ExpandED Schools is seeking two Field Specialists to assist in monitoring Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) youth and worksites. This is a full-time position from June-August.

    Purpose of Position

    In our sector-focused SYEP allocation, students who complete year round training opportunities are connected to SYEP internships within their sector focus. In June, Field Specialists will support the document collection for SYEP participants. From July to August, Field Specialists will conduct 10-15 site visits weekly to monitor student’s placements.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Track virtual collection of SYEP enrollment documents via Airtable.
    • Track collection and completion of Worksite Agreements.
    • Verify timesheet information for youth payroll.
    • Conduct site visits to in-person worksites.
    • Meet with youth employees (individually and in groups) and supervisors as needed to trouble-shoot, address administrative questions and generally strengthen the relationship between worksites and ExpandED Schools.
    • Write brief site visit reports each week to report observations made during site visits.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Commitment to educational equity
    • High School Diploma and work experience within the nonprofit sector
    • Experience working in education and /or youth development; knowledge of principles of youth development
    • Experience with administering SYEP a plus
    • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Attention to detail and high standards for presentation of written materials
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required
    • Desire to work collaboratively and participate as a member of a diverse team
