About The Role
Community-Word Project is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Salesforce Data Manager to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate is a Salesforce expert passionate about data integrity, analytics, and process improvement. You will be responsible for ensuring our Salesforce instance is a reliable source of truth, empowering our sales, marketing, and leadership teams to make data-driven decisions.
This role requires a blend of technical Salesforce skills, a deep understanding of data governance best practices, and the ability to translate business needs into actionable reports and dashboards.
A candidate accepting this role can expect an average of 25 hours monthly of work, with a larger concentration of those hours occurring between CWP’s main campaigns, which run November through May.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance & Integrity:
- With department leadership, co-develop and implement data quality standards and best practices within Salesforce.
- Perform regular data audits, cleansing, and deduplication using tools like Data Loader and/or third-party applications.
- Establish and maintain processes for data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness across all key objects (Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, etc.).
- Data Management & Entry:
- In a timely fashion, enter and code all financial gifts, and create/send acknowledgement letters as appropriate.
- Assess opportunities for automated workflows and program them as approved.
- Oversee and execute complex data migration and data import/export tasks.
- Advise on and refine data entry procedures to minimize errors and improve efficiency for end-users.
- Reporting & Dashboard Design:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders organization-wide to understand their reporting needs and business questions.
- Design, build, and maintain insightful and user-friendly reports and dashboards in Salesforce Lightning Experience.
- Provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively use reports and dashboards.
- General Salesforce Support:
- Work alongside Development Director to build out appropriate automations for Donor and Funder journey email correspondence
- Act as a subject matter expert for all things related to Salesforce data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, report inaccuracies, and user inquiries.
- Advise on how changes to the Salesforce configuration (e.g., new fields, objects, automation) will impact data structure and reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a Salesforce data-focused role
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert-level skills in Salesforce reporting and dashboards (Lightning).
- Proficiency with Salesforce data management tools
- Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, including standard and custom objects, fields, record types, validation rules, and data security models.
- Data Best Practices: Strong knowledge of data governance, data cleansing, and data maintenance best practices.
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Autonomy: A self-starter who can manage their own time and projects effectively in a remote, freelance environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Salesforce certifications.
- Experience with data cleansing and enrichment tools.
- Experience integrating Salesforce with other platforms (e.g., Ebsta, GoFundMe/Classy, Mailchimp, Asana).
- Basic understanding of SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language).
- Experience in the creative or nonprofit sector.
