POSITION: Community Education Specialist (Temporary / Contract-to-Hire)
STATUS: Full Time—40 hours/week (Nonexempt).
Temporary / Contract-to-Hire. Initial 3 month contract period with potential for conversion to permanent full-time status based on performance and organizational needs.
LOCATION: Fremont, CA. (Service Area: Alameda & Santa Clara County) COMPENSATION: $28.63 per hour. Comprehensive benefits package; 403 (b) retirement plan; paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Note: Full benefits package and retirement contributions typically commence upon successful conversion to permanent status.
THE ORGANIZATION: SAVE provides safety, support and resources for people to live free from Intimate Partner Violence and engages communities in the work to end violence. POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Education Specialist plays a key role in the Community Education Department by 1) scheduling and delivering violence prevention education and training; 2) mentoring the youth leadership group in their initiatives to prevent teen dating violence, including a health summit.; 3) developing curriculum and awareness campaigns; 4) supporting youth and adults with guidance and resources and providing crisis intervention; 5) training caregivers, service providers, and volunteers, equipping them with the tools to recognize unhealthy relationships and support clients effectively. Strong candidates for this position will demonstrate an understanding of specific issues faced by youth and have experience implementing programs and building relationships with community partners. The candidate will have a deep commitment to providing trauma-informed, youth-centered, and harm-reduction services. Previous experience working with youth, community members, educators, service providers, and survivors is strongly desired. Experience delivering engaging presentations and activities is also strongly desired. Candidates who are bilingual and bicultural and who have lived experience with domestic violence are strongly encouraged to apply.
