    Descripción

RIVET is looking to bring on a fractional Director of Finance and Operations to oversee our finances and help lead the design of our systems and operations. This flexible, remote, 10-15 hour a week role has three components:

    1. Manage the Basics: In partnership with RIVET’s Executive Assistant, ensure strong systems are in place and operating across the full range of business operations (finances, human resources, tech stack, data management and knowledge systems). While the EA will devote 25% of her time to implementation, there will be key responsibilities around design, approvals, data management & reporting, forecasting, and compliance that this role will oversee.
    2. Troubleshoot: Serve as a resource for questions, issues, and challenges related to nonprofit finance and operations that will arise as we grow.
    3. Design our Next MVP:
    4. Plan out the evolution of our next set of systems and practices so we can keep pace with our growth. Imagined areas of work: contracts for partnerships (working with our pro bono legal teams), improved financial data for decision-making, and the automation of key systems and processes.

This is a build-the-plane-while-flying situation where you will be helping to support current fin/ops work while designing and piloting our next evolution. You will work closely with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board Treasurer on strategy and support RIVET’s EA around implementation. There is potential for this role to evolve into a larger role over time.

You will join a dedicated, passionate, low-ego team of founders in launching a first-of-its-kind social movement led by young people. This new role reports into the CEO, working across the organization with all team members and volunteer leadership.

We recognize that no one candidate will possess every qualification and welcome candidates from different professional backgrounds who bring many of these qualifications and personal attributes:

    • Non-profit experience - You understand the unique requirements and needs of US-based nonprofit organizations, including accounting principles, reporting, in-kind donations, and audits.
    • Start-up experience - You have built the initial systems and processes for new entities. You are good at creating “good enough” solutions to solve issues quickly, while keeping an eye on the long-term goals.
    • Tech-first strategies You have experience creating tools for teams that are 100% remote; global experience is a plus.
    • Experience with the full breadth of business systems - While the focus will be on financial systems, you have experience across all operational domains, including business systems, technology, and human resources.
    • Prioritization – You can set clear priorities and steer others towards achieving goals.
    • Strong communication and coaching skills - You are effective at explaining complex ideas, ensuring buy-in, and leading groups in analysis work.

Check out the full role overview here (please make sure you read BEFORE applying).

We will review applications on a rolling basis. Application portal closes May 30, 2025 at 5pm ET (and potentially earlier depending on application volume).
