About Rhode Island Abortion Fund
The Rhode Island Abortion Fund (RIAF) is a mutual aid fund and reproductive justice organization dedicated to supporting Rhode Islanders who choose abortion or contraceptive care but cannot afford the cost. RIAF is a participating member organization of the National Network of Abortion Funds, a collective of almost 100 independent abortion funds, whose mission is to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access.
Since 1989, RIAF (formerly Women’s Health & Education Fund of RI) has been an all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing essential funding for abortion and birth control services. RIAF recognizes that the reproductive justice movement includes all genders, including transgender and non-binary people, and strives to meet the needs of all people who seek our funding.
RIAF works with clinics, community organizations, and nationwide abortion funds to distribute financial support to Rhode Island residents in need of abortion and contraceptive services.
Mission
The mission of RIAF is to ensure access to abortion, contraception, and emergency contraception by subsidizing the cost for Rhode Island residents regardless of their economic status or insurance coverage.
