Looking to gain hands-on experience, build real-world skills, and create tangible impact in your community? AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) is looking for a purpose-driven, curious, and passionate intern to join our Systems Change Team. If you're someone who wants more than just a resume booster and you're eager to be part of work that matters, this internship is for you.

You’ll work alongside a passionate team leading innovative housing solutions for people impacted by HIV/AIDS and homelessness. From day one, you’ll contribute to meaningful projects, strengthen your communication and data skills, and learn how systems-level work drives social change.

The Systems Change Intern will learn to:

    • Learn the ins and outs of housing navigation and homeless services in a nonprofit setting.
    • Support day-to-day program coordination for AFC’s Housing Navigation and KEYS programs.
    • Conduct housing screenings and referrals over the phone, helping people access services.
    • Strengthen your communication chops by engaging with clients, partners, and staff.
    • Organize data, assist with audits, and use AFC’s database (CaseWorthy) for quality assurance.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • You’re a current or recent undergrad/grad student (social work, public health, or applied science is a plus).
    • You know your way around Microsoft Office Suite.
    • You’re a clear communicator (both written and verbal) and ready to grow.

    The Details:

    • Location: Hybrid in Chicago (in-person work may be required).
    • Hours: Minimum 15 hours/week for at least 6 months (longer is even better).
    • Compensation: Unpaid, but a stipend is available, and we’ll help you get college credit if eligible.
    • Training: You’ll get supervision, mentorship, and skill-building that sets you up for future roles in nonprofits, public health, or policy.

    How to Apply:

    • Send your resume, cover letter, and completed application form to:
    • Interns@aidschicago.org (preferred)
    • Or mail to: AFC Intern Program, 200 W Monroe St, Ste 1150, Chicago, IL 60606
