Summary
Art in Tanzania and its partners work with Tanzanian corporate and government institutions to address Corporate Social Responsibility issues, including actions against climate change.
Details
Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic nature and wildlife.
Private citizens' social responsibility is commonly well-recognised and introduced in the Western world's school curricula and public advocacy programs.
The Tanzanian public is often unaware of corporate social responsibility issues, so corporate policies commonly do not take them seriously.
At the same time, Tanzania is a country where climate change has a substantial impact on its agriculture-based economy. However, in fairness, many people also do not understand climate change issues.
This program aims to educate schools and the public about social responsibility and deliver this message in schools with the help of the Tanzanian business community.
We currently work with entities such as Dar es Salaam University, Twiga Cement, Airtel, PVC, NBC Bank, and Coca-Cola, and are extending the program further. The field operations include working in a tree nursery and partaking in planting operations.
This program has a cross-cutting focus, allowing students from different professions to attend and work together.
Academic-level team leaders supervise your internship daily. We also monitor your progress with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you stay on track in your study program.
The internship outcome is learning to use and gain experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacity, as well as a better understanding of the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.
Work hours are 6 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Your program can be from 2 weeks to 12 months.
The program is ongoing, so we can adjust your placement dates as needed.
Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities. You can also do the thesis and related tasks.
The typical day-to-day tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and
visibility.
The start and end dates are flexible and can accommodate other travel arrangements in Tanzania.
You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable tours and safaris.
The Benefits and Perks are as follows:
Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1-13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation with breakfast and dinner, as well as the student compound. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.
Airport transfer is EUR 60 one way, a personal expense.
A charity visa for immigration, which costs USD 50, is a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250.
We pay you a $50 monthly fee, which is small but twice the national minimum wage in Tanzania. The minimum participation time for the grant is four weeks.

Local transportation, if any, is a personal expense.
