About us
MEDLIFE is a non-profit organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America and Africa to improve their access to medicine, education, and community development projects. Our mission is to build a worldwide Movement empowering the poor in their fight for equal access to healthcare, education, and a safe home. Our vision is a world free from the constraints of poverty. MEDLIFE works with students from around the world in order to broaden their perspectives and better equip them to advocate for social justice.
About the role
This internship is based in Lima, Peru, where interns will work closely with our field staff to document MEDLIFE’s work. This includes going to the field at least once a week — and almost daily during Service Learning Trip season. Interns will also collaborate with the Marketing Team to support various projects for our website, blog, and social media channels.
Media Interns should have strong English writing skills. Prior experience in communications or familiarity with basic editing software such as Premiere or CapCut is desirable but not mandatory.
What will your day-to-day look like at MEDLIFE?
- Attend and capture local field activities: Document MEDLIFE’s impact on the ground through photography, video, and other media formats.
- Create and refine digital content: Write, produce, edit, and proofread blog posts, stories, and other written materials for MEDLIFE’s websites and communication channels.
- Support the marketing team: Assist with a wide range of media and communications tasks — from organizing content and editing footage to contributing ideas for new storytelling approaches.
- Ensure quality and consistency: Help proofread, revise, and polish written and visual materials to maintain a cohesive brand voice across all media.
What will you bring?
- Native-level English skills.
- Graduated from or currently studying Marketing, Communications, Media, or related fields — or anyone with strong English writing skills and an interest in storytelling.
- Conversational level of Spanish is desirable, as interns will frequently interact with community members who do not speak English.
- Availability to relocate to Peru for a 3- or 6-month internship program, with the possibility of applying to full-time positions within the organization—either in our Lima office or remotely—upon successful completion.
What do we offer you?
- This is an internship role. MEDLIFE covers furnished housing, basic utilities, and work-related expenses for the duration of the internship, and provides a USD200 monthly stipend. Interns are responsible for airfare and personal expenses.
- For interns who complete a minimum of three months, airfare will be reimbursed up to $ 1,000.
