    About AMI

Agricultural Missions, Inc. (AMI) is a progressive nonprofit founded in 1934. AMI supports rural communities in the U.S. and across the globe—currently in Sierra Leone and Liberia—through youth leadership in agriculture, gender justice, food sovereignty, and grassroots organizing. We accompany communities at the frontlines of the struggle for food security and racial and economic justice, uplifting their voices and building long-term solidarity.

    The Internship

Are you passionate about social justice, storytelling, and global solidarity? AMI is seeking a remote Social Media & Photography Intern to help us share powerful stories of youth in agriculture, women leaders, and rural changemakers in Africa and the U.S. This is a 10-hour/week unpaid internship, open to undergraduate or graduate students in any discipline.

    Responsibilities

    • Curate and create engaging social media content highlighting AMI’s U.S. and international projects
    • Support photography and visual storytelling for donor updates, reports, and presentations
    • Assist with documenting the 2025 convening in the U.S. Black Belt Region
    • (Optional) Contribute to website updates and visual design projects

    Opportunities

    • Possibility to join AMI’s 2026 Accompaniment Trip to Sierra Leone and Liberia at staff rates

    Qualifications

    • Strong interest in social justice, agriculture, and nonprofit communications
    • Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn and Facebook)
    • Visual storytelling, photography, or editing experience preferred
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently with a small, committed team

    What You Gain

    • Hands-on nonprofit communications experience
    • Portfolio-building opportunities in global development and agriculture storytelling
    • Mentorship from seasoned nonprofit leaders with decades of international experience

    Compensación

Hands-On Experience: Gain practical skills in nonprofit communications, social media management, and visual storytelling that translate directly into career opportunities.

Portfolio Development: Build a body of work—social posts, photography, and reports—that you can showcase to future employers or graduate programs.

Mentorship: Work directly with AMI staff and consultants who bring decades of experience in global development, agriculture, and faith-rooted justice work.

Networking: Connect with grassroots leaders, donors, and nonprofit professionals across the U.S. and internationally, expanding your professional network.

Unique Travel Opportunities: Interns may be invited to join AMI convenings in the U.S. Black Belt or the 2026 Accompaniment Trip to West Africa at a reduced staff rate.

Cause-Driven Impact: Contribute to telling the stories of youth farmers, women leaders, and rural changemakers—knowing your efforts support visibility and sustainability for real communities.

Academic Alignment: Internship hours and projects can often be tailored to meet course credit requirements (with university approval).

Personal Growth: Strengthen your voice as a changemaker while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
