    Summary

Art in Tanzania is collaborating with a consortium of NGOS and private sector partners to assess and develop solutions for the impacts of climate change on Tanzanian society.

    Details

Art in Tanzania has operated since 1996. Our community placements attract approximately 250 participants each year. Our vision is to provide students with hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will enjoy an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, along with stunning natural scenery and diverse wildlife.

Approximately 75% of Tanzanians live in rural areas, and climate change is expected to significantly impact their livelihoods, which heavily depend on agricultural income.

The most vulnerable groups, including women, youth, and people with disabilities, are the most affected. This program adopts a multi-professional student approach to assess the current situation, explore future scenarios, and develop solution models.

On-field advocacy occurs in schools and communities.

We also utilise our social media platforms for advocacy efforts. Our Facebook page has over 50,000 followers.

You will help implement sustainable solutions, such as household solar installations, water reuse, and composting, while developing simple alternatives, such as homemade solar cookers.

The internship aims to apply your studies and experiences in a work setting typical of developing countries.

Work hours range from 6 to 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, meaning that the start dates are flexible. Your placement is customised based on your background, experience, and interests to enhance our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks encompass practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible since all programs are ongoing, many of which have been in place since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy affordable, sustainable safaris and tours.

We typically have between 15 and 40 students from around the world. They hail from over 400 universities with which we collaborate, representing a diverse range of professions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1 to 13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation, including breakfast and dinner, access to the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

The airport transfer costs EUR 60 one way and is considered a personal expense.

A charity immigration visa costs USD 50 and is considered a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250.

We provide interns with a monthly stipend of USD 50, which is modest but twice the national minimum wage in Tanzania.

    Flights represent a personal expense.

Local transportation, if available, is a personal expense.
