Through strategic initiatives, community engagement, and national-level programming, Project RELO aims to create lasting impact by strengthening individuals, teams, and communities before, during, and after critical events.
As the organization enters a phase of national growth, we are expanding our brand presence and digital storytelling to better connect with our audience, partners, and supporters.
Role Overview
This is not a traditional internship.
The Social Media Brand Strategy Fellow will play a key role in shaping and executing Project RELO’s digital voice, content strategy, and campaign development across platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, with opportunities to expand into additional channels.
This role is designed for an individual seeking real ownership, strategic input, and portfolio-level work within a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine Project RELO’s social media brand voice and positioning
- Build and manage a structured content calendar across Facebook and Instagram
- Conceptualize and execute campaigns tied to events, fundraising, and awareness initiatives
- Create or direct short-form content (Reels, Stories, visual storytelling)
- Analyze performance metrics and adjust strategy accordingly
- Identify opportunities for platform expansion (TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Collaborate directly with leadership on growth and engagement strategy
Key Deliverables (Portfolio-Driven)
- 12-week social media strategy plan
- Full campaign concept + execution (event or initiative-based)
- Content system (calendar, templates, posting framework)
- Performance analytics report with recommendations
- Optional: platform expansion strategy
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends
- Strategic thinker with creative execution ability
- Self-starter comfortable with ownership and ambiguity
- Interest in mission-driven work, community impact, or nonprofit growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Current military member serving on Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard
- Veteran or retired member of the U.S. Armed Forces
- Prior experience working with military, veteran, or first responder communities
- Experience developing or executing social media strategies for brands, organizations, or campaigns
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging short-form content (Reels, Stories, or similar formats)
- Strong understanding of brand voice, storytelling, and audience engagement
- Experience analyzing social media performance metrics and adjusting strategy accordingly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ownership
- Strong interest in mission-driven work, resilience, preparedness, or community-building initiatives
- Experience attending, supporting, or capturing live events (content creation, storytelling, or brand coverage)
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar content creation platforms
- Exposure to nonprofit marketing, fundraising campaigns, or community engagement initiatives
Structure
- Duration: 12 weeks (with potential for continued involvement)
- Time Commitment: ~ 5-10 hours per week
- Format: Primarily virtual, with optional involvement in live events
- Compensation: Small Stipend
