The Gender Equality Law Center ("GELC") seeks applications from rising 3L Law students to apply for post-law school fellowships for the 2026-2027/28 year(s). These fellowships will focus on representing LGBTQ+ clients in litigation as well as working to protect the rights of this group through other advocacy means. Only applications from current law students who intend to seek external funding either from known post-graduate sources (e.g. Skadden, Equal Justice, etc...) or from their law schools may apply.

GELC is a not for profit law firm whose mission is to advance laws and policies that will combat gender-based discrimination that limits opportunities for individuals seeking economic and social equality.

The civil rights of LGBTQ + communities, especially transgender and non-binary people, is hugely at risk today. It is therefore critical that advocates committed to this area of civil rights band together and use the courts where possible to push back on the federal government's attempts to eliminate the identities of gender minorities. For this reason, we are looking for proposals that will help expand GELC's capacity to take on more cases -- in both federal court and state court in New York to both protect and advance civil rights of LGBTQ + individuals.
