The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve the systems of democracy and justice in the United States. We work to hold our political institutions and laws accountable to the twin American ideals of democracy and equal justice for all. The Brennan Center’s work ranges from voting rights to campaign finance reform, from ending mass incarceration to preserving Constitutional protections in the fight against terrorism. Part think tank, part advocacy group, part cutting edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research. We craft innovative policies. And we fight for them – in Congress and the states, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion.

The Brennan Center seeks an intern to assist our IT Director in providing help desk support to our staff in New York and DC. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic student to launch a career in Information Technology.

Note: This internship is in-person at our New York office.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide desktop and telephone support to all Brennan Center employees.
    • Properly document all calls and problem resolutions.
    • Provide user-level software support, including but not limited to, MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access), Adobe Acrobat, Office 365, and Sage fundraising database)
    • Upgrade, repair and replace computers and printers as needed.

    Experience/Skills/Requirements:

    • Technician Level 1
    • Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability and detail-orientation.
    • At least a beginner’s knowledge of hardware and software installation.
    • MS Office (desktop and cloud based) skills
    • Familiarity with standard desktop concepts, including TCP/IP settings and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

    • Familiar with major smartphone and tablets models and OS
    • A basic understanding of various mobile device platforms and Macintosh.
