    Descripción

    Evergreen Inc.: Your North Brooklyn Business Exchange is a nonprofit industrial economic development corporation that promotes the development and retention of manufacturing, wholesale, creative production, and logistics companies located in North Brooklyn. Evergreen is currently seeking research interns to assist in collecting and analyzing data on businesses and their issues, and tracking trends in industrial Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and Bushwick. This work helps Evergreen update its records and more effectively provide its services, but also is crucial for positioning the needs of the industrial business community in ongoing manufacturing land use policy advocacy initiatives.

    Duties include:

    • Conducting a business needs assessment of local industrial businesses to understand their challenges and capabilities
    • Conducting door to door follow up visits with industrial businesses to ensure fullest survey response
    • Using collected business survey data to analyze and create summary report on findings
    • Conducting related research on local economic conditions and neighborhood demographics to use independently and in combination with summary report to create a Local Conditions Report
    • Providing research assistance as relates to advocacy for manufacturing land use policy
    • Updating Evergreen’s database
    • Other related research and assignments as they arise

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in economic development, industrial retention or urban planning. Applicants should be working towards a graduate degree in a related field. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have good research, writing and data summary and visualization skills. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and GIS/mapping a plus. Applicants should be comfortable working in the field, including canvassing on foot, walking in the industrial area and speaking with business owners and employees.

    Compensación

    This internship will begin in late May and run through August. Interns will earn $17.00 per hour, and will work between 15-25 hours per week. Interns will report to Karen Nieves, Manager of Business Expansion and Retention and Natalie Vichnevsky, Entrepreneurship Services Manager.
