Organización sin fin de lucro
North Carolina Industrial Areas Foundation
Acerca de
NC IAF is composed of independent, locally controlled organizations in Charlotte/Mecklenburg, Forsyth, Orange, Durham, and Wake Counties. We have a combined 25 year track record of organizing for social justice and creating systemic change on issues across North Carolina, including winning millions for affordable housing, cash bail reform, and living wage jobs.
Each NCIAF organization seeks to:
- Strengthen civil sector institutions and their leadership;
- Create a vehicle for families and communities to have a powerful voice in the decisions that affect their lives;
- Take collective action on concrete, winnable issues;
- Build relationships of trust between diverse communities.
We make this happen by building relationships between everyday people across the many divides in our community, i.e. race, income, geography, party affiliation. We organize listening sessions, develop grassroots action agendas, and build power to engage and negotiate with key decision makers in government and corporations.
NC IAF is part of The Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the oldest and largest institution-based community organizing network in the United States. Founded over sixty years ago by Saul Alinsky, the IAF works with 63 organizations across the United States, as well as in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
