Mission: The Brooklyn Music School (BMS) views art as an essential part of basic education and a means by which individuals connect with that unique part of themselves. We make available access to the performing arts regardless of income, age, previous experience, or professional aspirations. In particular, we seek to help those whose artistic voices are least often heard.

Vision: Moved by passion and dedication, the Brooklyn Music School will be positioned as the premier provider of community arts education and dynamic programming within the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District into our second century. With the unique ability to deliver access and excellence in music and the performing arts to a wide range of students, the Brooklyn Music School serves the entire neighbourhood by reaching even those students who lack affordable options. As one of the sole remaining welcoming and truly open community Brooklyn arts schools, BMS is able to give students an experience they will cherish for a lifetime. A rich tapestry of music history coupled with innovative and adventurous new programming makes the Brooklyn Music School crucial to the community as BMS faculty/teaching-artists develop the critical thinking skills and artistic integrity of generations to come.
