Without volunteers like yourself, our organization would not be what it is today! Pathways for Change started out as a volunteer based program in 1973, where consciousness raising groups of people recognized a societal lack of response to sexual violence and also recognized the need for social justice. These volunteers were dedicated to providing resources and support to survivors of sexual violence, and established a hotline that not only emotionally supported and validated survivors, but also provided resources to trusted community organizations and programs. The dedication of these volunteers and the work they did led to the organization being incorporated in 1981! Pathways for Change was then able to offer additional services to the hotline, to include 1 on 1 counseling support, medical/legal/police advocacy, education and outreach. Because of continued support from volunteers like you, Pathways for Change has been able to expand the amount and types of services offered, and continues to increase the amount of volunteering opportunities.
