CHICAGO HERPETOLOGICAL SOCIETY

With close to 500 members, we are one of the largest herpetological societies in the nation. Each year, we teach thousands of people about reptiles and amphibians by participating in community outreach efforts, attending environmental education events and hosting large shows like ReptileFest. On the last Wednesday of every month, we host general meetings at the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum which feature presentations by herpetologists and scientists from around the globe. These meetings are free to attend and are a wonderful way to learn about some of the research and conservation efforts being conducted to help these amazing animals. On the first full weekend of every month, we have educational displays set up at the Nature Museum, where participants can touch and hold a variety of reptiles. On the first Sunday of every month, we also host monthly meetings for our junior herpers club, which focus on educating elementary and middle school aged children about reptile and amphibian care.
