Misión
WHAT WE DO We Rescue Food: Using technology, we engage volunteers to transfer fresh food surpluses from local businesses to social service agencies serving the food insecure. Local volunteers use our technology to sign up for a "food rescue" and schedule the pick up and delivery. We create community: Our model empowers communities to serve themselves with the support of our technology. Acerca de
Since our founding in 2011, we are now in 33 locations across 20 states and the District of Columbia, and we are constantly growing. Willowbrook, IL is our newest site and it is reaching out to assist other communities in DuPage and Cook counties. The more vounteers we gain, the more communities we can assist.
Food Rescue US Lifetime NUmbers:
- 73 million meals provided (each meal = 1.2 lbs)
- 95 million lbs of food kept from landfills
- 16 million lbs of reduced CO2 emissions
- 33 sites across the US
- 9,100+ volunteers, 1,700+ partner food producers, 1,200+ partner food agencies
