    Acerca de

The story of sugar on Maui is told at the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum. We are the main source for information on Maui's sugar history, and its multiethnic cultural heritage. We are located across from the historic 1902 Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company mill (now closed) in what was once the thriving plantation town of Pu'unene. The museum is housed in one of the few historic buildings remaining from that era and contains exhibits about one of the most significant and influential periods in the Islands’ history. It presents information about the sugar industry, depicts sugar’s influence on the development of Maui’s water resources, and describes plantation community life and the immigrants who came here from all over the world to work in the fields and mills. Outdoor exhibits feature large harvesting and mill equipment.
