Acerca de

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) was established in 1896 by the son and daughter in law of the founder of The Salvation Army. They began operations with a Mission Hall, a home for orphaned children, and a prison reform crusade.

Today VOALA serves more than 8,500 Angelinos every week in 42 programs at 85 sites throughout Greater Los Angeles. All programs are designed to encourage positive development, promote self-sufficiency and foster independence for children, youth, families, seniors, and veterans living in poverty and individuals challenged with homelessness, addiction, disabilities and incarceration.

We're dedicated to helping all people realize their full potential through relevant programs and services that have an impact that is DEEP, resulting in a change in the way they see themselves and the world; BROAD, extending beyond individuals to their families and communities; and LONG-LASTING, outlasting the time spent with us. VOALA retains the essence of their founders’ spiritual and social legacy with a broader scope of support and services for all regardless of race, gender, age or religious preference.
