The Way of Mind and Body

The WOMB is a community center located in Akron, OH. We aim to serve individuals and families in the Akron area through holistic programming related to health, creative arts, and civic engagement. We are a multicultural organization, welcoming community members from all walks of life to take part in our programs, help plan activities, and use The WOMB as a space for their important meetings and events.

The WOMB was formed in June 2012 when five socially conscious young adults pooled their personal resources to design an urban center for total wellness. Originally a boxing gym, the East Akron space was re-constructed to become a multipurpose community center, performance venue, and classroom. We now offer martial arts and yoga classes, a weekly Expression Lounge (open mic), a community garden, various workshops, and numerous opportunities to become engaged in social issues facing the larger Akron community.
