The DC Center for the LGBT Community, Washington DC
The DC Center for the LGBT Community works to educate, empower, celebrate, and connect the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender/gender-nonbinary communities in the District. We envision communities where LGBTQ+ people feel healthy, safe, and affirmed.
To fulfill our mission, we focus on 4 core areas:
1. Health and Wellness. This includes our Total Care Team working on HIV prevention and sexual health, and individual and group counseling services.
2. Arts & Culture. This includes our Reel Affirmations Film Festival, Center Arts Gallery, and OutWrite Book Festival.
3. Social and Peer Support. This includes 15-20 different peer facilitated support and discussion groups that meet at the DC Center.
4. Advocacy and Community Building. This includes our Anti-Violence Project, Center Global (our program for LGBTQ asylum seekers and refugees), and our community building work with LGBTQ People of Color.
