KNOTS FOR NICU

Knots for NICU is a student-led nonprofit founded by compassionate high school students. Our story began with a few handmade hats and has grown into a multi-tiered nonprofit with chapters in multiple schools and states. What began as a local effort quickly blossomed into a community movement, fueled by volunteers who crochet, sew, and give their time to make a difference.

Our Goals:

• Provide handmade items to NICU babies and their families to offer comfort and hope.
• Create opportunities for youth leadership, community service, and skill-building.
• Raise awareness about the NICU experience
• Expand our chapter program nationwide while maintaining high-quality, consistent contributions.

We operate on a three-tier youth-led chapter system, offering scalable involvement.

We also:

Host companionship crocheting: student volunteers crochet with elder members of the community bridging the generational gap to promote connected living

Create service projects at food banks and arranging collections for Child Hospice and Respite Ryan House.

Write appreciation cards for NICU staff and healthcare workers

Provide Leadership training for chapter officers.

Our Achievements:

• Over 2,500 handmade items donated to NICUs across Arizona
• Thousands of student service hours logged in support of families in need.
• Partnerships with hospitals, schools, and local businesses to expand impact.
