    Acerca de

    Who we are

As climate change progresses it is now more important than ever to understand the impacts it will have on the human mobility of people and displacement. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) climate-related disasters have caused 60% of internal displacement of refugees and migrants as of 2022 (UNHCR, 2023). Another fact according to the World Bank 216 million could migrate because of climate change by 2050 (World Bank, 2022). Some places in the world like South Africa and Latin America are seeing more than thousands of people migrating or displaced because of weather-related events. This not only impacts a person's economic well-being but culturally and socially as well.

Climate mobility and displacement are two important topics that The Climate Mobility Community Action Network (CMCA) works to address. We are different from other organizations because of our focus on bringing the voices and experiences of those to the table impacted by climate mobility and displacement. Doing this through collaboration, education, and providing a platform for diverse stakeholders to come together and work towards long-term solutions on tackling climate mobility and displacement.

We recognize the high urgency of these two topics and the need for concrete action by bringing diverse voices to the table and working together to provide skills, networks, resources, and knowledge on these topics as ways to build action. Climate mobility and displacement cannot be tackled by one person; it has to be something we all work together in the form of a network.
