About Us:
We're Electric Girls - a small but mighty New Orleans-based non-profit with the mission of building girls’ confidence and capabilities by engaging them through STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). We typically run summer camps, after-school programs, Saturday programs, in-school programs, and 1-day community workshops. These programs are designed to give girls fundamental skills in electronics, computer programming, hand-tools, woodworking, robotics, and design. It also gives them the space, resources, and guidance to use these skills to build their own self-directed projects and to recognize their skill growth and define their STEM abilities. We just concluded our first Virtual Summer Camp serving 150 girls. Electric Girls got started in late 2014, was incorporated in spring of 2015, and has grown to work with a community of thousands of girls and their families per year.
