Sea Mar Maternity Support Services

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a federally qualified health center.  Maternity Support Services is a Sea Mar program that emphasizes prevention and works towards health and wellness for families.  Families must be eligible for Medicaid or enrolled at a Sea Mar medical center.  We provide answers to pregnant and parenting questions and concerns.  Our program provides support to families living in poverty and empowers them to make positive choices that will benefit their families.

Our multi-disciplinary team of a nurse, a social worker, a community health worker, a registered dietician, a birth doula (if patient desires) and an infant home visitor work together to address family needs.

 All of our staff are bilingual in Spanish and English. 

We help parents to prepare for the baby’s arrival, obtain a car seat, learn about breastfeeding and newborn care and how to help their older child adjust to the new baby.  We also provide families with support around education, employment, tobacco cessation, relationships, coping with stress, anxiety, and depression.  Infant home visitors provide support and information about child development, infant feeding, sleep patterns and how parents can be their child’s first teacher through love, talk and play.

We link families to many additional services in the community including health insurance, WIC, childbirth education, substance abuse and mental health programs, domestic violence counseling, parenting groups, parent-child activities, etc.
