Family Child Care Providers Association of San Francisco (FCCASF)

It is the mission of the Family Child Care Association of San Francisco to help its diverse membership maintain a high degree of professionalism in the early care and education of young children and to promote family child care as a vital and necessary service to the community.

The Family Child Care Association of San Francisco (FCCASF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has spent more than 50 years representing, advocating for, and celebrating family child care (FCC) educators in San Francisco. We are a peer-led membership association whose work amplifies the voices of approximately 800 licensed family child care homes serving roughly 6,000 young children and their families across the city. FCC educators — overwhelmingly women of color reflecting the linguistic and cultural diversity (Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish) of the communities they serve — are San Francisco's largest home-based workforce for infants, toddlers, and young children. FCCASF exists to ensure they are organized, resourced, heard, and honored as the skilled professionals they are.

Our Goals

• To build leadership capacity within the family child care community.
• To ensure that family child care providers participate fully on planning bodies and in public policy related to children, families and child care.
• To make peer support, technical assistance and information available to every San Francisco family child care provider.
• To ensure that family child care providers have the resources they need to provide high quality child care, including support programs, quality training and education, fair regulations and fair access to subsidized child care programs.
• To increase awareness among parents, legislators, businesses and the community of the critical role of family child care in the continuum of child care alternatives.
