MTNA exists to advance the value of music study and music making in society, while also supporting the professionalism of music teachers.

MTNA is a nonprofit organization of more than 16,000 independent and collegiate music teachers through our network of over 500 state and local affiliates. We provide resources on professional and personal development, educational advancement, and business entrepreneurship. We host music performance and composition competitions throughout the country and distribute over $200,000 annually in grants and awards. Founded in 1876, MTNA is America's oldest professional music association
