At Minoli Foundation Animal Refuge, our foster program is the heart of our rescue efforts—and it's uniquely designed to ensure the best possible match between our rescued dogs and the homes they enter. Our foster system isn’t just about placing dogs in temporary housing—it’s about building personalized connections and ensuring a successful, supported transition from shelter to home. Unlike many traditional rescue operations, we don’t pull dogs from shelters and then search for fosters. Instead, we reverse the process to prioritize compatibility and success.
- What Makes Our Foster Program Different
- Pre-Rescue Foster Matching via Video Call.
Before we rescue a dog, we meet with every prospective foster via video call. This one-on-one session allows us to:
- Get to know the fosters:
- Lifestyle, work schedules, activity level
- Past dog experience
- Household dynamics (children, other pets, roommates, etc.)
- Home environment (indoor/outdoor space, fencing, etc.)
- Preferences and boundaries for dog behavior, size, energy, etc.
- Use this information to custom-match dogs from our partner shelters to each foster’s specific environment.
Only after a foster is approved, our team visits local shelters to identify and rescue a dog that fits their home. This ensures:
- Each rescue has a pre-identified place to go, reducing the risk of returns.
- Dogs are placed into environments where they’re most likely to thrive. Helping guarantee each dog has a soft landing — and each foster has a dog who suits their lifestyle and capacity.
