LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

The Early Childhood Center provides a positive school experience that fosters learning through exploration and encourages independence. Our child-centered program pro-motes hands-on, active learning. Through teacher-supported activities using the Creative Curriculum®, children learn at their own pace, respecting their individual time table for growth and development. Our goals are to stretch imaginations, challenge, teach problem solving, promote language development, encourage appropriate expression of feelings, and develop social skills.

Our vision is a community where children become independent, confident lifelong learnings with a strong sense of self and a love of learning. Our mission is to create a positive preschool experience that fosters a love of learning through a child-centered program in a nurturing community. In each child we will cultivate autonomy, a sense of elonging, respect for others and enthusiasm for exploration.

The Early Childhood Center, Inc., founded in 1970 and developed by a small group of dedicated educators, is a non-public pre-school, licensed by the Maryland State De-partment of Education.

The school’s location, in a picturesque park setting in the Woodley Gardens section of Rockville, offers a natural environment for early exploration and discovery. As the year progresses, each classroom becomes a community, reflecting the personality and contribution of each child.
