    Opportunities at UB Include:

    UB The Change

UB The Change is a common interest living community open to all University of Bridgeport students interested in Community Service, Civic Engagement and Social Justice. Living on the 3rd Floor of Seeley Hall, residents will engage in weekly individual and group community service projects. Local politicians, non-profit leaders and community activists will be participating in a speaker series held on the UB The Change floor. UB the Change residents will be able to have a direct impact on the UB community, the local Bridgeport area and beyond.

    Student Organizations

Student Clubs and Organizations participate in many different community service projects to benefit the UB community, Greater Bridgeport area and the world. Past community service activities have included assisting the Beardley Zoo with the annual Halloween events, the Pink Pumps Luncheon which raised funds and awareness for breast cancer, reading to students at Roosevelt Elementary School and much, much more.

Federal Work Study Community Service Employment

Students awarded Federal Work Study as part of their Financial Aid package can work for local nonprofit organizations earning both money towards their education and valuable work experience.

    Days of Service

Every year UB Students and members of the local community come together to perform amazing acts of service in the Greater Bridgeport area. Past Days of Service have included Challenge Day and our Annual MLK Day of Service, which has over 400 participants completing service projects at over 15 different sites. New Days of Service for 2011 will include a 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance.

    Alternative Spring Break

Every year a very select group of UB students is chosen as our Norge W. Jerome Service Scholars. These students participate in our weeklong Alternative Spring Break. Past service scholars have cleaned neighborhoods damaged by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, tutored Native American children in Arizona and built homes with Habitat for Humanity in Texas.

    Other Opportunities

There are many other service opportunities including our annual Domestic Violence Vigil and Annual Sexual Assault Awareness Walk. There is also the chance to create new service opportunities. The possibilities are limitless.
