Calvary United Methodist Church is dedicated to the life and teachings of Jesus and to the mission and ministry of John Wesley. We strive to have our lives reflect the compassion of Christ, affirming the worth, dignity, and gifts of every person as a child of God. We welcome and celebrate diversity, including diversity in age, economic status, ethnicity, family status, gender, physical abilities, sexual orientation, and race. Calvary Church is located at 300 Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington MA, accessible via the #77 MBTA bus and the Minuteman Bikeway. More information about our church can be found on our website (http://calvaryarlington.org/) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/calvaryma).
Calvary Church Arlington is love in action. We are a welcoming, fully inclusive Christian community, grounded in the gospel, practiced in the Wesleyan tradition. Calvary is blessed to be a healthy 100-year church, with a strong financial foundation from our predecessors and active congregational support today, with a physical presence visible to thousands of people per day. Our current members are multi-generational, creative, adaptive leaders who demonstrate and act upon their faith through works, both through the lens of our tradition and in the context of today’s world.
We welcome everyone who walks through our doors, and recognize every human being, as a bright, brilliant, beloved child of God who is beautiful to behold. Everything we do is an effort to manifest our faith:
By fostering a church culture and community made up of participants who are engaged, open, loving, adaptive and supportive, and who steward the church through time, talent and treasure.
By creating dynamic worship services, inclusive of all ages, full of songs, stories and silence, which are creative, prayerful, challenging, joyful, and comforting with and for our community.
By learning together through play, gatherings, study and dialogue about the Word and our world.
By engaging and supporting brave, collaborative, flexible leadership.
By taking action, partnering and collaborating, within and outside our church walls, locally and globally, to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
