YWTF is a national grassroots movement engaging younger women in their 20s and 30s to take action on issues that matter most to them. YWTF is reaching women who would not traditionally join a women’s group or consider themselves an “activist.” Its members are mortgage brokers, real estate agents, and childcare workers, hailing from populations that have not historically been organized by the women’s movement. In addition, while younger women in the workforce are relentlessly courted by the fashion, movie and other consumer industries, somehow they have fallen through the cracks of progressive organizing. While a number of women’s groups target college women, and other organizations tend to have a membership of adult women in their 50s and 60s, women in their 20s and 30s do not have a mechanism through which to be active on their concerns as younger women. YWTF fills this vacuum.

YWTF has grown to 7,000 members in over 30 states across the US. YWTF is organized through chapters located in Chicago, IL; Miami, FL; New York City, NY; Northeastern PA; Philadelphia, PA; Seattle, WA; and Washington D.C.

Through innovative campaigns and grassroots organizing, YWTF members work on a wide range of projects that creatively address the issues that are important to younger women including: health, women in the workplace, political engagement, leadership, domestic violence, and sexual assault. YWTF members have lobbied city councils, designed mentoring programs, organized economic justice campaigns, launched civic engagement and voter education programs, and pushed for legislative change.
