Planned Parenthood was founded 100 years ago with the idea that all people should have the information and care they need to live active, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams. Planned Parenthood has grown to become the leading provider of women’s health, the largest political organizer, and the most resilient provider of medically accurate, comprehensive sex education in the US. As the one of the largest affiliates in the South, PPSAT plays an essential role in the Federation.   

 The mission of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) is to provide comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care services in settings that preserve and protect the individual’s right to privacy and informed decisions; provide educational programming that fosters a culture of healthy sexuality; and advocate public policies that advance these rights and expand access to these services.  

PPSAT is an essential health care provider that ensures quality, affordable health services for patients in need. PPSAT provides access to care through 14 health centers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Health centers provide a range of services including birth control consultation and supplies, gynecological exams, cancer screenings, GAHT, abortion, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and options counseling, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). 

 PSAT provides comprehensive, evidence-based educational materials to adolescents and parents to educate and promote conversations about sex and sexuality. PPSAT’s education initiatives work to ensure that community members have access to the information they need to live healthy, productive lives. The PPSAT educational team has been recognized nationally, receiving a number of national awards for outstanding programs. 

 The PPSAT team includes Medical Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Nursing staff who provide high quality care, no matter what. Our staff also includes the support service team members in the areas of finance, public affairs, organizational development (human resources and training), communications and education.
