Helping Hands for Vulnerable Children
Misión
We want to help Uganda help itself by empowering change-makers and leaders through access to education, from primary school through university and post-grad.
Acerca de
Helping Hands for Vulnerable Children (HHVC) believes that countries can't raise themselves up and into the future without educated professionals. By identifying children with academic promise and providing them with an education, including through university, graduate and professional school, we hope to create the change-makers of tomorrow who can lead their country out of poverty and disease.
In ~2012, Dr. Prudy Nelson worked in a refugee camp in Kihihi, Uganda. She and her husband started paying school fees for various children, including paying for medical school for one young man. The number grew and other needs became apparent so they started a Ugandan-based charity, Welfare Organization for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, privately supported by them. So the organization could increase, additional funding was needed. HHVC was formed in 2021 as a 501c3 to act as a fundraising organization for the work of WOOVC.
Additionally we are running 2 Village Savings and Loan microfinancing groups. We have also promoted entrepreneurship through piglet donations and goat donations.
