Economic Democracy Advocates was launched to advocate for equitable and sustainable management of food, water, and energy systems in the United States. We are a full-service agency providing research, education, and advocacy training to link citizens with legislation and elected officials to support economic democracy.
EDA strives to be a leading organization dedicated to research, education, and grassroots advocacy for governmental legislation to support meeting basic human needs sustainably.
EDA acknowledges a dual responsibility: to engage in the preservation and regeneration of our commons through grassroots economic democracy and to support these measures through legislative policy actively. In essence, we recognize ourselves as advocates for economic democracy through political democracy.
We envision a system that will restore this integrated worldview and meet the needs of humanity in the future. This is economic democracy.
Economic democracy is neither capitalism nor socialism. It’s a localized, self-reliant system of resource use that asks all people to take an active role in shaping their community’s financial and ecological future.
