Bon Secours New York Healthy Communities Initiative

Acerca de

Collaborating organizations and government agencies support community-led planning to improve the quality of life for all our families. In 2008, a small group of neighborhood residents coalesced around a common vision for a “Healthy Marble Hill” and established the following as priorities: community food security, youth empowerment, advocacy for senior services, small business development, community-led urban greening, increased transportation for outer-borough residents, and housing improvements. Today, the Initiative has grown to serve all residents of Upper Manhattan and the NW Bronx. Emphasis is place on the following communities: Inwood, Washington Heights, Marble Hill, Kingsbridge, Kingsbridge Heights, and South Riverdale. The efforts of neighborhood residents dovetail with the priority initiatives identified by Manhattan Community Board 12, Bronx Community Board 8, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the Offices of the Bronx and Manhattan Borough Presidents, and New York City Council. The initiative recognizes the synergy of working together while focusing on existing competencies to build momentum and achieve systemic change.
