Immediate Help- reaching the teens inside the juvenile justice system building relationships between the men and women who volunteer to make a difference and the teens who have been sentenced by a judge to serve time. We do this through weekly church services, Sunday Funday’s where we provide snacks, adults and games to help connect and even life skill classes to include sewing, financial training and oil change.
Continued Care- Once the teen has completed their sentence, their mentor follows them back out into the community, helping them get reconnected to school, sports or employment. In addition, the teen now has access to Teen Nights where once a week they get a hot meal around a family table, hear a lesson and get to spend several hours with adults who can guide them. There are fun things like basketball games and carnivals and more serious nights where we work on Trust base relationship building.
Long Term Support- Even when probation ends and 95% of the support system is gone, Reset Mentoring is still there to help the teen take the next best step. Advanced life skill classes, help with driver’s license or secondary education or trade school, grocery shopping and budgeting. As long as the teen is moving forward, we will use our resources and time to help them become successful adults who will give back to community.
