The purpose of the Broward County Animal Care Volunteer Program is to bring people together with a common goal of improving the lives of animals and their families both inside and outside the shelter. Our four pillars of service are community animal care, equitable services, public safety, and world-class shelter operations.
As a Broward County Animal Care volunteer, you're giving one of the greatest gifts of all-- your time.
Broward County Animal Care Division is Broward County's only municipal, open-admission animal shelter. This means that we are governed by our local government, and space permitting, we do not deny any animal that needs to come through our doors.
As a volunteer, the time and effort you contribute to all areas, including the shelter, clinic, and special events, is vital to ensure our continuing success and commitment to caring for companion animals.
Our mission is to protect Broward County Residents and animals by providing animal services and promoting community engagement.
BCAC helps reunite owners with their lost dog or cat and offers spay/neuter services for pets and community cats. In addition, we also provide Volunteer and Foster opportunities to those interested in supporting pets in need.
Our shelter offers many programs and services to help support and care for our four-legged County residents. At our adoption Center, we provide the opportunity for potential adopters to select and adopt a pet from our many wonderful dogs and cats that need a new home.
Within the community, BCAC offers rabies vaccinations and Rabies registration tags. Additionally, our team of Animal Care Specialists ensures the safety and care of pets by enforcing county and State ordinances and regulatory laws.
